The word countervail means “to act against something with equal force.” Just as light countervails darkness, Countervail Group stands against injustice and exploitation with the power of God’s love.
Women working in the windows of Amsterdam's Red Light District (RLD) are enslaved, abused, and exploited. And Countervail exists to meet them there—pushing back darkness with presence, support, and hope.
Founded in 2015, Countervail Group exists to maximize freedom and justice for women and children who have experienced sexual violence, commercial sexual exploitation, and human trafficking.
Through the ministry of presence, we show up—physically, financially, and relationally. Through scholarships and practical support, we walk with women through both their celebrations and their sufferings, and in these shared moments we see God’s grace and love at work in powerful ways.
